Camp Herrington Rules

The primary purpose of our camp is spiritual; to facilitate a daily awareness of GOD, Faith in HIM through JESUS CHRIST, and obedience to HIS purpose for each believer.

  1. Each camper must be within the grade level specified – having completed 5th grade going into 6th grade, thru, having completed 11th grade going into 12th grade.

  2. All Campers will be permitted and expected to participate in ALL activities of the camp, except those disallowed by the parent/guardian by written statement.

  3. There MUST be a properly filled out registration form signed by the parent/guardian for EACH camper.

  4. The use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs are NOT permitted. Weapons or potentially harmful objects will not be allowed including knives, guns, fireworks, etc. Since the camp is designed for spiritual growth, it is considered inappropriate to engage in any indecent or ungodly activities, foul language, and immoral conduct.

  5. Everyone is expected to cooperate with the camp program. Those who choose not to cooperate or cause undue disturbances will be required to call a parent/guardian. The expectation is that each camper and leader will conduct themselves in a manner displaying care and concern for each other, and pleasing to the LORD.

  6. Campers will be expected to dress in modest clothing AT ALL TIMES in order to honor CHRIST and each other. Short shorts or skirts/dresses, jogging shorts, tank tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, sleeveless tops, and midriff skirts can draw inappropriate attention to the wearer rather than to CHRIST. Therefore, they are unacceptable and are not to be worn at camp.

    Shorts can be no higher than the child’s finger length above the knee cap
    . Capri’s and T-shirts with sleeves will be allowed. Clothing will NOT be permitted that display slogans or advertisements that are inappropriate. Leaders and Staff will ask campers to change into something more appropriate if there is due cause. There shall be no bikini, two-piece, or overly revealing swim suits allowed.

  7. The Camp director, Staff, and Cabin leaders are not responsible for your property. It is strongly recommended that you do not bring expensive clothing or personal items to camp. Whatever you bring is your responsibility.

  8. NO CELL PHONES OUTSIDE OF THE CABINS. If you need to call home, use the kitchen phone with the Camp Staff’s permission. Also, parents/guardians can call the church phone at any time to check on or relay messages to their child (409)-384-8155.

  9. Campers may not leave the cabins after curfew except with a staff escort for legitimate purposes.

  10. No raiding/tricks/pranks are allowed, and under no circumstances are girls to be in boys cabins, or boys to be in girls cabins. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  11. There will be no PDA (Public display of affection) at camp.

  12. All medications must be turned in to the kitchen staff upon arrival at camp. Medication will be distributed on a daily schedule by a registered nurse.

  13. Personal hygiene is expected: showers, washing of hands, clean clothes, deodorant, etc.

  14. Our camp is not geared or setup to handle individuals with emotional/behavioral problems/physical disabilities.

  15. GOD has blessed us with this wonderful camp! Each camper will be responsible for the care and up keep of the campgrounds. Screens will not be removed from windows, and any damage must be reported to someone in authority immediately.

  16. The campground must be kept safe and remain an enjoyable place (outdoor activities / games will be confined to designated areas.)

  17. Youth who drive their own vehicles will need to lock them up and remain on camp premises until Sunday afternoon service when camp is officially over. Campers will not be allowed to spend free time in their vehicles, listening to music, etc.

  18. No leaving camp for extracurricular activities! This is disruptive to the continuous flow of teaching and ministry, creates unrest among other campers, and causes liability issues. Certain rare exceptions may be granted by the Camp Board of Directors if there is a written request by the parent/guardian prior to the beginning of camp, and no more than one incident.

  19. We pride ourselves on being a very conservative camp. This is one of the reason’s why this camp was born. With that being said, our dress code is heavily enforced. We also want to request campers dress appropriately for the night time services.

  20. We believe that everyone at EBC Camp Herrington must wear gender appropriate clothing. Boys will wear boys’ clothes and girls will wear girl clothes.

  21. Any camper caught behind the cabins, or anytime that a camper is caught in the cabin that belongs to the opposite sex – will be required to call their parents/guardian immediately and will be asked to leave Camp Herrington.

  22. All campers will be required upon arrival to complete a head check for lice and a temperature check. If there is an issue, the camper will need to go home to be treated accordingly.

  23. No facial or bodily piercings. (Only exception is GIRLS earrings.)

  • WE BELIEVE IT IS IMPORTANT TO INSTILL IN THE CAMPERS TO “DRESS UP” DURING OUR NIGHTLY WORSHIP SERVICES.

  • FOR THE GIRLS – CAMP APPROVED DRESSES/SKIRTS THAT ARE NO HIGHER THAN THE CAMPERS FINGER LENGTH ABOVE THE KNEE CAP, DRESS SLACKS OR NICE JEANS WILL BE ALLOWED.NO RIPPED/TORN JEANS OR SHORTS WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE AUDITORIUM.

  • FOR THE BOYS – NO SHORTS!!!    JEANS/PANTS ARE TO BE WORN THAT ARE NOT RIPPED/TORN.

(Please Parent’s/Guardian’s we ask, if at all possible, that you schedule your child’s doctor or dentist appointments outside of the week of camp. That way there won’t be any interruptions, Thank You!)

No adult will be allowed to enter the Campgrounds (except for the evening services in the sanctuary) without a background check. It is for the protection of the children!
